Payment of the award
An award for financial assistance may be paid as an interim award or a final award. Payment as an interim award allows the applicant to receive financial assistance for ongoing or future treatment that may be required, up to a certain amount. The Court may pay a final award when it is clear that there are no further expenses to be claimed.
Offender debt recovery
Where a person is convicted of the crime for which the financial assistance application is made, the Government Solicitor may take steps to recover the money awarded to the victim from the offender.
